Arla recently completed her Early Childhood Education Director Certificate and is excited to be the new Sacred Heart of Jesus Early Learning Center Director. Arla taught the Early Preschool class at Sacred Heart of Jesus for 3 1/2 years before becoming the director. Prior to teaching here at Sacred Heart, Arla taught PreK for 10 years at another Catholic preschool.
Arla has a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Management from Colorado State University. She has completed the four year Biblical School Program through the Archdiocese of Denver and was the Director of Religious Education for six years at Immaculate Conception in Lafayette.
Arla lives in Louisville with her husband Rick. They have three grown children. Arla is a native of Colorado and enjoys spending time outdoor. Her hobbies include walking her three dogs, hiking, camping, biking, golfing and gardening.
Tom was raised in Ohio as the middle child of five siblings. He attended Kent State University were he received a BA in Political Science. While in Ohio working, he also received a Masters Degree in Business at Case Western Reserve University.
Tom moved to Colorado where he met his wife, Teresa. They have been married 32 years and have raised two daughters, Becca and Kate. Teresa is an IT and HR professional with the Colorado Community College System Offices in Denver. Kate is finishing her degree at Metro State as a Physical Therapist and alternative medicine nurse. Becca is at Loyola University outside of Baltimore, Maryland. She is in her second year majoring in Finance. She is currently attending classes in Copenhagen, Denmark this semester as a part of her degree program.
After working in the High Tech area for a number of years, Tom went to the University of Colorado where her obtained his BA in Education in 2005. He has completed one half on his Masters Degree in Education at CU Boulder. Tom worked in the Adams 12 District teaching 5th grade and in the Boulder Valley Schools teaching 4th grade. In 2010, he switched to teaching in preschool. Tom attended classes at Front Range Community College where he completed several classes in Early Childhood Education. The last two years Tom taught preschool at First Presbyterian Church in Boulder.
Tom is excited to be part of the SHJ School and feels blessed to have met such wonderful students, parents and fellow teachers.
Laura grew up in Laguna Beach, California where she earned her Associate of Arts degree from Saddleback College. She then went on to earn her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado and holds her Teacher Certification for preschool.
Laura and her family have been a part of SHJ for 17 years. Her three children all atteded Sacred Heart and this will be her 10th year teaching at the school. Teaching the little ones brings her great joy! She enjoys watching them grow in Faith, Friendship, and always hopes to inspire a love of learning.
She is the mother to three children, Madison, Jack and Annie. She enjoys watching her daughter's play soccer, attending her son's swim meets and playing tennis.
This is Brooke's second semester teaching at SHJ. Brooke is currently studying Psychology and has plans to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy. Brooke grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with her parents and four sisters. In her spare time, Brooke enjoys running, biking and hiking.
Ashlee Ensley is very excited to be teaching her second year of Pre-Kindergarten at Sacred Heart of Jesus School! Ashlee grew up in the small town of Dublin, Georgia. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southern University. Miss Ashlee taught First Grade in Georgia for three years before moving to Colorado in the summer of 2014. She is getting married December 10th. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching movies and traveling.
Kimberly Stensler has a B.A. in Psychology, with classes in child development/child psychology, from Rutgers University in New Jersey. She enjoys working in the preschool classes and the aftercare program at Sacred Heart of Jesus. Her favorite part of working with the children is completing art projects. She has a black cat named Salem. Miss Kim loves to travel to beaches and go to Broadway shows. This is Miss Kim's ninth year at SHJ.
